Because we sell our products globally, we offer customers a choice of currencies to purchase with. To do this, we have to adjust for exchange rate variations. If you go to our online ordering pages and select the product you want, you will be able to get the correct pricing in the currency you prefer.

The Professional Edition gives you additional features aimed at the documentation professional. In particular the Professional edition gives the author access to a greater range of online output formats and technologies. Use the Professional edition if you want to create Help systems, or if you are creating an Intranet and want to use our more powerful Table Of Contents Technologies.

Standard Edition gives you the same powerful republishing and formatting tools, but is aimed at producing Web-based online documentation. Standard Edition does not give you a choice of the TOC technology used (it only supports the auto-sensing SmarTOC) and it will not produce Help systems.

Yes, but the total cost of this approach is slightly more than purchasing the Professional Edition in the first place. You can order your upgrade from our online ordering pages.

Most likely you will want to upgrade to XDK (although we call it a X-grade). XDK will automatically upgrade your HDK projects, plus give you access to all the latest authoring and documentation technologies.  For information about the XDK X-grade see the X-Grade to XDK page.

However, if you are only interested in converting Word documents to online documents (i.e. you used HDK’s Document Conversion mode), you may choose ReWorx Pro. ReWorx gives you a very simple Wizard interface for the conversion and formatting of Word documents into feature-rich online documents. You can find out more at the ReWorx page. Please note that X-grades are only available for ReWorx Professional.

Yes. However, we have found there is not much more we can add to HDK that will provide significant benefit to our customers. This means that we intend to maintain the product and support the many thousands of people using it. But we also would like clients to look at the benefits of  X-grading to XDK.

In most cases you would Xgrade to ReWorx Professional. It follows a similar philosophy to WebLite but uses more advanced technology. It is much faster, has no memory limitations and gives you access to all the latest end-user navigation aides. You can order your WebLite to ReWorx Professional online.

In a nutshell, RePublico is our Enterprise authoring solution that is aimed at collaborative authoring, advanced single-sourcing and Managed Document Creation (encompassing Content Management and Document Management).

HDK, ReWorx Professional, XDK and RePublico all produce Help systems. The answer to which one will depend on what authoring method you wish to employ… XDK for advanced authoring, ReWorx for simple document conversion, or RePublico for controlled collaborative authoring.

The second issue is what output format you want to support. If you need to support the old WinHelp system, you will need HDK (please note that in nearly all cases WinHelp can be replaced with HTML Help). You will also need HDK if you are using an older version of Word to author with (see Product Compatibility Chart).

Time. All our products come with very extensive online manuals, handbooks, help systems and online tutorials. Only HDK ships with a paper manual. Plus, with our eDistributor you can order a back-up CD with your software to be sent to you for a small extra charge . So you wont miss out on anything by ordering and downloading the software, but you will be able to start using the product almost immediately.

Ordering a boxed copy will require delivery time and costs.
